About Us
A predominantly service-based, non-profit organization, The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation provides a comprehensive approach to helping people with MS maintain both their health and well-being. We offer programming and support to keep them self-sufficient and their homes safe, while our educational programs heighten public awareness and promote understanding about the illness.
Funds raised by the foundation go directly into services designed to improve the quality of life for people with MS. Our priority is to serve with empathy, resourcefulness, and responsibility. We are here to listen, assist, and empower.
Individuals affected by MS, regional support groups, and healthcare professionals rely on our resources. In addition to our interactive web site, our programs and services are accessible via our national toll-free helpline staffed by dedicated, caring caseworkers and peer counselors. Our innovative multimedia library provides vital information presented by leading healthcare practitioners in a clear, concise manner in both English and Spanish.
The MSF, a publicly funded 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 1986. With national headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the MSF employs the concept of utilizing a centralized location to serve the nation. By eliminating the need for branch offices, while networking with independent local grass roots organizations, we are able to maintain a more cost-effective and efficient operation while providing the highest quality of service.
Donations of any amount are appreciated; however, the MSF neither sells memberships nor requires participation in fund-raising activities by individuals or support groups. All MSF services, as well as information, literature and subscriptions to our publications are provided free of charge.
Members of the MSF Board of Directors serve voluntarily and receive no compensation. Formal meetings are conducted each year to facilitate their responsibility for the organization’s stewardship and oversight. Adherence to a conflict of interest policy is mandatory for membership.
